LAST CALL!!
This is it... the last couple of days of the Spring-Summer 2009 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalogue. I'll be placing my last order on Tuesday, June 30th at about 6:00 pm so please get any last orders to me by then! I've updated the retiring accessories list here and you'll find the retiring stamp sets and Decor Elements lists here.
Some new stuff to play with!
It was a super busy weekend for me... seriously, why is the weekend only 2 days long? There is just way too much that I'd like to do for the time I have available. Oh well. It was a good weekend and I did get time to stamp so that always makes me happy! Actually, I was extra happy because I had new stuff to play with and here's a card that I stamped for a small swap I'm doing with my downline... It's using all kinds of fun new things!
I used the new Dusty Durango Card Stock and Stampin' Write Marker (yay for having the new In Colour Stampin' Write Markers!) together with Old Olive. The stamp set is one of the new hostess sets called Kind & Caring Thoughts - I love all of the greetings in this set! Oh, and there's some of the new Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon which I adore!! I also used the new Modern Label Punch which I think it's going to quickly grow to be a favourite.
I actually borrowed this idea from Patty Bennett. I often use someone else's card as a starting point and then I make it my own... but in this case, this is pretty much an exact copy. Thanks for the great card, Patty!

Guess what arrived today?!!
So, I came home to a whole bunch of boxes filled with the new Idea Book & Catalogue! Yes, they are here earlier than expected!! I'm not allowed to post a picture of the cover until July 1st so... this is as good as it gets for now.If you pre-ordered your Idea Book & Catalogue, I'll be in touch soon to arrange delivery over the weekend. However, if you are anxious to get yours, I will be home Tuesday evening and you can pick yours up between 7:30 and 9:30 if you'd like!
If you didn't pre-order, the special $8.00 price on the Idea Book & Catalogue is valid until the end of June, so you can still get your copy! You'll want to get your hands on this and sit down with a cup of tea to enjoy all the new goodies and the great new samples. Most importantly though, I am going to extend my free shipping coupon that was sent with my last newsletter for one additional day - to July 1, 2009. This means that you could place an order from the new Idea Book & Catalogue and pay no shipping! June Contest Entries
June's contest is well underway and so far I've received 3 entries. There's still time to get your submission in! This month's contest is for cards celebrating a graduation, wedding or anniversary. Same rules as before - use only Stampin' Up! products (current or retired) and submit your creation by email to me at bevennis@shaw.ca by June 30th. Your name will be entered once for each card submitted and the prize will be $20 in Stampin' Up! products plus a hostess stamp set! All entries will be featured on my blog, so by entering, you are giving consent to having your artwork posted. Have fun stamping!
Let's get to the cards that I've received so far. First, I had to say how impressed I am by the non- traditional ideas of the first two. This one is from Jamie and it's the graduation card that she has stamped for her son's high school graduation. Isn't it a beautiful card? She's used the Inspired by Nature stamp set (love this set - if you don't have it yet, add it to your Wish List because it's a great set to have!). This is such a nice scenic card and I think it's perfect for graduation as well as many other occasions... maybe it'll even inspire you if you still need to stamp a Father's Day card today! : )
This next card is from Elinor. Now, I have to tell you I was a little confused when she emailed me and said this was a wedding card submission... but once you know the story, it's the perfect wedding card! It's for her son's wedding and his wedding is taking place at Galey Farms. The guests are receiving a train ticket in their invitations and will be taken by train to the wedding site at Galey Farm. Isn't the greeting perfect for a wedding? The stamp set used on this card is called Happiness is a Journey - it's still available, currently on the dormant list, but it is retiring at the end of the month. It's a set of 2 - the train and greeting that you see here - for $19.95.
This last card is also from Elinor and it would make a lovely wedding card. The greeting comes from the Heard from the Heart stamp set and the one heart is from the Sale-A-Bration set called Polka Dot Punches. Elinor has also used the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper which is retired and already sold out. Such a nice card...

Putt Putt!
This adorable card was stamped by Anne. It's just so cute. I love how Anne created the water. The main card is Bashful Blue, the she's used Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue and Ballet Blue for the layers of water. She used a circle punch to create the waves at the top then ran some Two-Way Glue along the top edge and added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. The boat and cloud stamps are from a set call Putt Putt which is currently on the dormant stamp sets list. Thanks for the fantastic swap card, Anne!

Some new goodies!
As a demonstrator, I have an opportunity to pre-order a few of the products from the new Idea Book & Catalogue... My order arrived last week and it was pretty exciting to see all of the new colours! I thought you might enjoy a little sneak peek...
I have to say that the new colours are really exciting! I really love the new ribbon - cute polka dotted grosgrain ribbon. Two of the stamp sets are hostess sets - the one at the top left and the one at the top right of the photo. The new greeting set is great!
So, I have seen the new Idea Book & Catalogue - I've received my demonstrator copy. It's always so much fun to flip through the pages and see all of the new products and the new samples. I look forward to receiving my supply of new catalogues so I can get them out to all of you who have pre-ordered... just a couple more weeks and they should be here!

An update on the "last chance" accessories list
Hello stampin' friends!
Hope you are out enjoying the sunshine... sure has been beautiful these last few days! I have a bit of a sunburn from being down by the ocean yesterday afternoon for a BBQ. Right now, I'm in Chemainus enjoying time with some of my family who are here visiting... really enjoying baby Romeo, my cousin's little man who is 6 months old! Thought you might enjoy a little photo of the cutie pie.
Okay, it's been a while since I've posted and I just thought that I should make sure you have the latest on the "last chance" accessories list... Remember, these products will not be in the new catalogue and are only available while supplies last. Some are sold out already so don't wait!

From Alicia
This was Alicia's swap card last month... I used this stamp set - Upsy Daisy - a lot when I first got it but it's sat on my stamp shelf way too long! I must get it out and get creative! Okay, back to Alicia's card. I like that she added the big beautiful flower from the Pretties Kit to the card along with a Build-A-Brad in the centre. I think she coloured the flower by running her Stampin' Write Marker up each petal and the blending the colour with an AquaPainter.

Kind words...
This card is beautiful in person... the picture looks pretty good, but doesn't quite do it justice. This was a swap card that I received from Lorraine. It uses the hostess stamp set called Echoes of Kindness. I love the quote from Mother Teresa that is included in this set. Lorraine stamped the flowers on Whisper White card stock and coloured them in, then she stamped the quote on Vellum paper and sponged the edges a bit before she layered it over the flowers, securing it with brads in each of the corners. Her colour scheme - Tempting Turquoise, Gable Green and Apricot Appeal came from the Rainbow Sherbet Designer Series Paper that she used in the background. Another great card; thanks, Lorraine!
I've updated the retiring accessories list again tonight... there are a few more items that are now sold out.

Good-bye old, hello new!
As we get ready to bid farewell to the current In Colors, including my favourite Baja Breeze, the excitement over the new colours begins! I'm still waiting to receive my demonstrator pre-order which will include card stock, ink and ribbons in the new colours, but some of the demonstrators in the US have started to receive theirs and share their excitement. If you want a sneak peek, check out this blog which shows the new colours...

Cheers to You!
On such a hot summer's evening, perhaps this is just the card to post! This was a make and take card that my friend Alicia brought to our last group meeting. It uses the adorable Cheers to You stamp set. Card stock colours are Night of Navy, More Mustard and Naturals White. We also got to use some of the beautiful polka dot vellum from the Taste of Textiles. Isn't it a cute card?I've just updated the list of retiring accessories - a few items are now sold out. Be sure to check it out...
I have now seen the new In Color colours that will be coming out in the next Idea Book & Catalogue. I look forward to seeing them in person, but I think that there will be a few new favourites... Rich Razzleberry looks beautiful - a deep raspberry colour. Soft Suede is going to be a nice addition and I bet it will go beautifully with many colours. Bermuda Bay looks like a lovely turquoise, Melon Mambo is a cheery pink colour, Dusty Durango is a great summer orange, and Crushed Curry is a nice shade of yellow. Having new colours to play with is always lots of fun! As a demonstrator, I'm able to pre-order some of the new In Color products so I'm anxious to receive my new ink pads, card stock, markers (yep, they have In Color markers this year!), and polka dot ribbon!!

Scrapbooking Contest Results!
Before I get to the contest, please be sure to scroll down and see the previous two entries detailing the retiring stamp sets, Decor Elements, and accessories list...
All of the entries for May's Scrapbooking Contest came in the last week, but they were worth the wait!
The first two submissions came from Kristal, featuring her adorable little son! Kristal used Simply Scrappin' Kits for both of her layouts. If you haven't used these before, they make scrapbooking so easy! You'll find them on pages 162-165 in the Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book & Catalogue. Some of them are on the Last Chance list though, so be sure to order soon if there are any that you love!
I like the Simply Scrappin' Kits because they come with all sorts of fun colour coordinated products - patterned paper and card stock as well as card stock weight self-adhesive die cuts that work beautifully to add accents to your pages. Some of the kits work well to make cards as well so don't limit yourself to scrapbooking!
The next entry that I received was from Carol Lynn - a page showcasing her Mom's birthday celebration. She also used a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit to create this cheerful layout.
And, the last entry came from Christine, with a photo of her children reminding us of all the snow that we had this past December! Christine used a Jumbo Wheel to create the background and then added snowflakes that were cut with the Snowflake #2 Sizzix Originals Die.
All of the layouts are great! The winner will be able to select one free stamp set of her choice from the current catalogues - any value!
I had a couple of questions about how I choose... I am in no way "judging" your submissions - for each submission, your name goes into the draw. Instead of using the traditional method of writing names on papers, I am using an online random list generator (www.random.org). I simply enter the first name of each person who enters - once for each entry - and then hit "randomize" and we have the winner.
So, here's what came up this time (I entered each name once for each page submitted):
